Leaving the Homeland

On Tuesday, January 6, 2009, Sam and I left Gardnerville, NV with a 37' Fifth Wheel, pulled along by our Ford 350 truck to see America with the constant thought "Just Hold on to your Dreams." Our first night we spent in Pahrump, NV. We saw a small town where we had a Logan family reunion years ago. Where it was once a small town, it is now a beauty in the middle of the Desert. Our next stop was Las Vegas, NV where went to Camping World to buy reasonably priced RV things to get us totally ready for our journey. After that we went to Laughlin, NV where we had no reservations. We had to pull in between several other RVs who also didn't have reservations. What an adventure that was since we couldn't use the pop-outs and had to cook spaghetti-o's without any electricity. Cramped quarters with spaghetti-o's, now that is living the good life. The highlight of the night was when our second son Wayne called and told us that on May 31, 2009 to June 7, 2009 our 17th grandchild, a little girl, would be born. We are very excited for them!! After we left Laughlin, NV we were shocked to meet 5 to 7% grades with our 5th Wheel. This was the true beginning of our adventures. We finally got to Mesa, AZ to spend a week in a park full of beautiful grapefruit trees. Once we got parked, we set out to see what the park had to offer. You would NOT be bored as a retiree here. There was rock climbing, tap dancing, sport classes, hot tubs, stain glass, quilts, and so much more. To top it all off, everyone there rides a bike everywhere. Then we were invited to our first retiree potluck. The music was done by a group of roaming RVs like ourselves. It was fun. While there we got a call from our niece Melanie who invited us over to talk and visit. She had the most beautiful home. It was like a mansion in the sky. She served us a delicious dish of stuffed cream cheese chicken. It was halved and stuffed with the cream cheese, then topped with red onions and grated cheese. It was to die for! After Melanie's home, we went to an old ghost town called Tortilla Flats, AZ. It is the remains of a stagecoach stop along the Apache Trail to Superstition Mt Wilderness. We saw Indian cliff dwellings that were really beautiful. We saw miles of a beautiful lake, I wish I could remember the name of it. We also saw brothel's, bars and saloons of the old west. I took some pictures of what we saw. You will see just a few.
