While driving into the beautiful Yuma, AZ, we were shocked about how green the valley was year round because of the many crops they plant and harvest year round. We did so much while there. One of our days we went into Algadonnas, Mexico, which was over the Mexican border. It was so beautiful and full of sweet people compared to Tijuana, Mexico. It is mostly composed of older people getting medications, teeth cleaning and eye prescription's filled. On a funny note, we were standing in line to come back into the states, and we got to the US Customs and he asked if I had anything to declare, and told him no it was all in my husbands backpack. The guy took one look at Sam, checked our passports, and told us to go on through without even looking at the medicine in our bags. Another day we went to the Yuma Territorial Prison State Historical Park. Here is where the prisoners were put in cement blocks without air conditioning, of course not since it was built in the 1800's. Could you imagine being stuck in their cells during the extreme Arizona summers when temperatures can reach a blazing 126 degrees? Another day we went to Quartermasters Distribution Center, where during the Civil War food would come up the Colorado River on a steam boat. From there it was distributed to the Calvary Outposts in Nevada, California, and so many
others.
