Colorado, going North

May 2, Sam and I visited Durango, Colorado where we both felt like we had stepped back in time. We took a steam locomotive from Durango to the town of Silverton. It is a very old town where Silver was once mined. The silver was taken out of town by the train loads. As we traveled on the train we saw many waterfalls, deep rivers and winding tracks. The man who owns the train line was on the train. He and many other people dressed in period costumes told us stories of Durango and Silverton in the first person as if they were the character they were talking about. On May 4, we went to Mesa Verde, and on these high Mesa tucked under huge overhanging rocks were the homes of the Anasazi Indians. They lived there from the years of 570 to 1300 A.D. It was quite a sight we both hiked Down and Up a ladder to get to them. What Fun!!!! " On May 5th we drove to the The "Swiss Alps Of America". As we drove over 13,000 foot passes near Teluride these Alps soared even higher. We were awed by the grandeur of them. We both understood why they are known as America's Alps. On May 6th we went to four corners. This is where the borders of Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming meet . It was so hot that day we thought we would melt.
